10. Dahlia in Bloom
Of course, we’re going to start off with a lovely romance where the MC gets isekai’d to another world. At first, she died of overworking and then got reincarnated into another world.
After that, when her father dies in that realm, her soon-to-be husband just says that he was in love with another woman. Now, as a craftswoman, Dahlia is trying to survive and thrive. This is a pretty new series and one that not a lot of people know about.
Judging from its trailer though, it has a lot of Mushoku Tensei and Ascendance of a Bookworm vibes and I expect a lot of amazing world-building in this one. It also bound to be really wholesome and might even have a bit of drama to spice things up. Well, who doesn’t want to watch an up-and-coming independent woman bloom?
9. Too Many Losing Heroines!
We already know the blue-haired girl is going to lose no matter what. I mean, look at Darling in the Franxx or Food Wars, but this series just takes it to a whole another level. At first, our girl Anna was rejected even though she was popular, and it didn’t stop there.
Next was Lemon from the track and field club, and then there was Chika from the literature club. But will they finally make a comeback this time around? They weren’t kidding when they titled the show Too Many Losing Heroines because almost every girl here gets rejected.
But what I like about it is that it actually focuses on these girls and what happens next, which not a lot of romance anime even tackle. It looks hella promising and the animation was really good too, which was completely unexpected.
8. Days with My Stepsister
You see, our boy Yuuta had some big changes happen to his family after his father remarried, and the most beautiful girl in his school became his stepsister. They promise not to grow too close to each other, but we all know how far they go, especially since they’re living inside one house.
First off, what got me pretty excited watching this series was that it was going to be animated by Studio Deen, the same people who animated Konosuba and Fate/stay night, which were really good shows.
The trailer didn’t show us a lot, but from the atmosphere alone, this might be more serious than other romance shows in this list and it might not be as trashy as we initially thought. Let’s just hope it stays that way because it will definitely stand out.
7. Giji Harem
Speaking of trashy shows, an anime season isn’t complete without one of them, and it just so happens to be Giji Harem. I mean, come on, it has the word “harem” in the title. Our boy Eiji just wanted to be popular in high school, and now he has some help because of his junior, Rin Nanakura from the drama club.
She uses her skills to create a fake harem for him, but what Eiji doesn’t know is that the she actually likes him. I have to say though, despite it having some classic harem rom-com tropes, the entire concept is unique because every time it’s being done by a single girl.
I even think it’s pretty wholesome too, and to be honest, Rin looks really cute. I just hope the guy isn’t like Kazuya from Rent-a-Girlfriend and he actually has some brains.
6. 2.5 Dimensional Seduction
This is the dream scenario every high school otaku wants to be in. Our boy is the president of the manga club and he’s head over heels for 2D characters, but all of that changes when a cosplayer named Ririsa joins the club. And of course, Okumura immediately becomes her photographer.
She’s even into cosplaying some not-so-appropriate attires and this 2D lover boy might just be into 3D real soon. 2.5 Dimensional Seduction is basically My Dress-Up Darling but a whole lot lewder.
Sure, it doesn’t have some godly animation and there might be no plot at all, but it compensates with a whole lot of ecchiness, and I know a lot of you are going to watch it. The best thing? It’s not only one girl because he’s practically going to get an entire harem.
5. No Longer Human in Another World
Remember Osamu Dazai from Bungou Stray Dogs? The MC here is basically him if he got reincarnated into another world. You see, the Osamu Dazai here, just like the one in BSD, just wants to die.
When he gets transported into another world, things get even worse because no matter what he does, he just can’t seem to off himself. This is just an isekai parody and I’m digging it. This is just pure comedy at this point, and the funniest thing is that he doesn’t care about what happens to others or himself.
Everyone thinks that he’s a hero, but bro’s depression is so intense that it literally turned into his very own superpower. This is just a refreshing take on the entire genre and the author had to be on some crazy stuff just to even think about this concept.
4. Megami no Café Terrace Second Season
If you love watching cute girls do cute girl things, then you’re going to love this one. The second season of Megami no Café Terrace basically continues what happens in season 1, and that means a lot more harem fun.
There is a high chance that the plot is going to be a lot more dramatic and even crazier with new girls coming in to join the fun. Yeah, more girls are coming and it’s most likely that they’re either going to be competition or new additions to Hayato’s already massive harem.
I mean, I thought this guy collected them all, but I guess he forgot about the dark-skinned girl and some more stereotypical girls. Still, though, season 1 was a hit and there’s no doubt that season 2 is going to be a lot better.
3. Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World Season 2
Anime that has the word “or” in its title is always a hit or miss, but lucky for you, this series is an underrated gem. I mean, it was good enough to have a second season. If you didn’t already know, in this series, astral mages are being hunted down by the Empire, so they started their own kingdom and they have been at war ever since.
The first season already blew my mind with just how much drama and intensity there was in the plot, and it looks like season 2 is going to follow the same pattern, or it might even become more of a slice-of-life story to change the pace of the entire series.
Well, expect a lot of drama to be in this one and I swear if it upgrades its animation quality, it’s going to get a lot of attention.
2. Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian
Enough of the trashiness, let’s go to something a bit more wholesome. The title basically is the plot. You see, our girl Alisa is half Russian and half Japanese, and she’s basically the most popular girl in school while talking to nobody at all except for boy Kuze.
She’s usually very harsh towards him and gives him compliments in Russian, but what she doesn’t know is that he can understand every single word she says. This is just one of the most hilarious rom-coms right now and it just warms your heart.
The situations they get themselves in are insane, and Alisa is pretty cute when she gets flustered. I love how they’re committed to the Russian part when it came to the girl MC and it somehow doesn’t feel forced. This is just refreshing, especially since it has little to no fan service at all.
1. Kimi ni Todoke Season 3
We’ve been waiting for this one for a long time and it finally has arrived. After 13 years of waiting, Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 is finally here. It continues the plot of Season 2 and you already know things became so dramatic.
Not a lot of other information has been revealed yet other than it’s going to be animated by Production I.G, the same one that did the animation in the previous seasons. What I immediately saw was that the animation quality and art style got a massive upgrade. It kept the series’ classic character designs while adding a modern touch to it.
It looks stunning and I think that in this season we’re going to get a whole lot of development between our two MCs. With the previous seasons being a banger, I have no doubt in my mind this one is going to break the genre again. That’s why it’s number one in our list.
