Top 10 Anime Where MC Gets Trash Looking Ability That Is Overpowered – Skills. That’s what some protagonists get. Whether it’s in a fantasy world setting or reality, not everyone gets what they truly want.
What if, however, those trash skills somehow can be turned into overpowered abilities if used correctly? That is what this post is all about—anime protagonists that have trash abilities that turn out overpowered. This is a pretty entertaining list. Stick around to see what anime I’ve got for you all today.
10. Loner Life in Another World

A perfect series to recommend to those who truly want to see bizarre-looking skills that aren’t ordinary, used and somehow turn out to be the strongest.
A classroom was summoned to another world, as each class member got to choose their abilities one by one from a selection of lists, some being more powerful than others. The protagonist, Haruka, was late to the party and the last to pick.
So, he got all the remaining trash bizarre skills, which look terrible, but when used correctly, they are pretty broken. Now watch as a loner protagonist gets the attention of all the other classmates as he grows stronger, bonds with them all, and saves the day from terror.
9. The Daily Life of a Middle-Aged Online Shopper in Another World

Online shopping sounds pretty useless, right? Especially in another world, as it’s got nothing to do with battle. But what if I told you that buying absolutely anything—something that an isekai world doesn’t even have—to be then used to your advantage… now that sounds insane.
The Daily Life of a Middle-Aged Online Shopper in Another World is exactly as the title suggests. A guy is transported to another world and gets the online shopping ability to buy stuff in another world. He uses this to turn his idea into a business by selling stuff at high prices so that he can make lots of money and live a slow life of leisure.
8. Even Given the Worthless “Appraiser” Class, I’m Actually the Strongest

We all know how overpowered appraisal skills really are, but in this anime, it’s known to be one of the worst and weakest skills anyone can have. Heroes are born and not made, and you need to be born with a powerful skill to become one.
The poor protagonist—bullied all his life for having the appraisal skill and made fun of to the point of even getting left behind to die. Turns out the appraisal skill is something else. And perhaps this guy really does have a chance at becoming the hero he always wanted to be.
7. Handyman Saitou in Another World

This is an anime about an average, normal handyman who fixes and does things daily for people, now transported to another world. Saitou joins a party with his thief class, as he can pick locks using his handy skills and boost the morale of his team.
That’s all he can really do. He can’t fight and just stays back and watches. Sometimes he even helps his mage remember incantations because the old man forgets things easily. But Saitou can be useful in his own ways—just not overpowered.
6. The Ossan Newbie Adventurer, Trained to Death by the Most Powerful Party, Became Invincible

This is one of my favorites from last year in 2024. How a complete newbie, low-rank warrior becomes so busted and broken after being trained to death by his mentors to max out his stats.
Rick Gladiatol is a 30-year-old adventurer who was too late to train at a young age, as that is when you should be training to get stronger.
However, the most elite team decided to train this Chad into a complete beast and transform him into a powerful warrior by making him do hellish training and burden to become the ultimate, invincible warrior. Watch as many underestimate this protagonist as they await their fate of defeat by a mere E-rank warrior.
5. Uncle from Another World

What if your own uncle was in a coma for years, but the reality is he was in another world as a hero all this time, saving the world—until he snaps back to reality and keeps all his powers from the isekai world.
Uncle from Another World is a hilarious parody isekai anime of an uncle using his awesome powers to become a YouTube star—doing videos, showing his powers, and gaining a bunch of followers to become famous. All while also sharing his experience of how it was like in another world and what he did over there to his nephew.
4. World Trigger

World Trigger is a great anime series, much to my surprise. It’s barely talked about or forgotten, but it’s highly worth investing your time into for a badass and overpowered protagonist that makes short work of enemies.
Monsters called Neighbors have invaded, and weapons known as triggers are the only way to stop them. So, a transfer student named Kuga decides to join the academy and learn how to use a trigger to fight for humanity.
But people get so surprised by how strong he is when he kills the Neighbors with such ease. The biggest plot twist, however? He is one of those Neighbors—a humanoid in disguise. But don’t worry, he is one of the good guys.
3. Mashle: Magic and Muscles

What if you can’t use magic—the only person in this magic academy who is unlike others—and you use muscle power to fight your way to the top? Mashle is a parody anime, but my god, it is amazing at what it does.
A child was born without magic power and gets abandoned for being a complete weakling in a world that thrives with magic. An old man then takes the young child in as he watches him grow into a fine young man of power and strength through training day in and day out—until he can use his fists against magic.
So, when he proved himself worthy, he joined the magic academy to rise to the top. But it won’t be easy, as others have powerful magic and he only has physical strength.
2. BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense

If you don’t like getting hurt, then spend all the ability points you get into Vitality and become an invincible tank where nothing can kill you.
BOFURI is very underrated, but it’s a quality series that gives you a great adventure to witness a girl become so overpowered in an RPG game world. Maple decides to become a tank and use a shield as her main weapon.
Soon, she spends all her points into health to become invincible, as nothing can kill her. The more she levels up, she becomes so overpowered and gains skills that are broken. It’s quite an easy ride, but it’s super fun to watch.
1. Black Clover

Finally, to recommend the last anime on today’s article list—Black Clover. I really do miss Black Clover, as many of us are still waiting for the next season to start but have no idea exactly when.
This falls perfectly into the list where the protagonist Asta gets a trash-looking skill, still being unable to use magic despite getting a mysterious grimoire and a great sword to use. Well, when people see you don’t have magic, they immediately think you are trash, but they really don’t know what is truly coming to them—the wrath of a demon.
Asta has been training so hard to get his hands on a grimoire and use magic, but never did get one. He was always behind, until a black grimoire accepted him out of nowhere and showed him the power of a demon. It’s badass, I tell you. An epic story awaits you all.
