High School Romance Anime of 2025

Top 10 Must Watch High School Romance Anime of 2025 – There’s no better romance than romance in the classroom. Today we’ll be looking at only the finest high school romance anime that 2025 has to offer and will offer in the future. Let’s go!

10. I’m Getting Married to a Girl I Hate in My Class

High School Romance Anime of 2025

We all think of marriage as something we do after falling in love with the right person. However, in this case, it’s the exact opposite. The decision of marriage comes before love. In fact, the two people involved both hate each other.

Saito and Akane both can’t stand each other at all, but the grandparents consider them to be the perfect match. They end up having to comply with their elders’ request. I really like how this anime portrays one of the biggest dilemmas of Japanese culture in a humorous way.

It may seem like an alienated concept to you—to marry because your grandparents told you to—but honoring your elders is a huge part of their culture. If you like tsundere girls who hate the guy and eventually end up falling for them, this is the anime for you.

9. The Colors Within

Totsuko, who sees people’s emotions as colors, forms a band with Kimi and Rui. As they practice music, it strengthens their bonds and reveals their true natures.

The director of this anime is the same one who directed A Silent Voice—that made me go into it with high expectations, and not only did it live up to them, it kind of surpassed them. The film is an excellent, beautifully made, deeply resonant piece of art that everyone should experience.

The animation is buttery smooth and the music complements it quite well. Since the protagonist can quite literally see the internal emotions of the characters in the form of colors, it allows the animation of the show to flourish and deliver its theme in a unique, abstract way.

8. Aharen Is Indecipherable 2nd Season

High School Romance Anime of 2025

We all tend to have a little bit of antisocial tendencies within us, but the main character of this show has all those tendencies multiplied by a hundred.

The anime follows the story of Reina Aharen, who usually has an expressionless face, but at the same time tends to be overly attached to people she barely knows well enough. You can imagine how this leads to people misunderstanding her most of the time.

Overall, this anime is the perfect blend of cute and funny—and what more could you ask for after a long day of work? It’s a cute series where two people have good intentions for each other, but somehow they always end up making things worse for each other in the most ironic of ways.

I went into it without expecting much, but the end result was a fun experience that left me with a breath of fresh air on life. A must-watch in my book for sure.

7. My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me

Romance Slice of Life Anime You Should Watch in 2025

Having a best friend’s great, but starting a love story with his sister can go wrong in more ways than it can go right. This show depicts it perfectly.

The series follows Akiteru Ooboshi, an ordinary student who is best friends with his classmate Ozuma Kohinata. Iroha, Ozuma’s younger sister, often hangs out at his house and acts annoying toward him—a contrast to her in-school persona as a kind and diligent honor student.

The premise of the show is quite interesting, but the best thing about the show is how it initially seems like it’s following a generic format, then out of nowhere it throws a plot twist in your face and you get hooked. To top it off, the animation and music of the show are not something to be scoffed at. It’s an interesting story that’s definitely worth exploring in my opinion.

6. Okitsura

Pretty sure you hated learning geography as a kid, but this anime will teach it to you in a way you’ll want to learn more about Okinawa Island. Teruaki Nakamura recently transferred to a school in Okinawa from Tokyo and fell in love with a girl. Unfortunately, he can’t understand her dialect.

With the help of his new friend Kana Higa, Nakamura will set sail on his newly found cross-cultural romance. Honestly, this show does a lot to get you hooked on interesting facts about Okinawa Island. It did seem annoying to me initially how the show was about Okinawa Island more than the characters who were not being developed.

Eventually, the characters do get the attention and development they deserve as well. So you basically end up enjoying the show for not just the characters but the facts about this fascinating island as well.

5. A Couple of Cuckoos Season 2

Imagine being swapped at birth and spending your entire life in the wrong family. Well, if you can imagine it, an anime director out there has probably already created it.

In this anime, Nagi Umino and Erika Amano—who have nothing in common—were swapped at birth. The neat part? Their families and the two of them realized it only after becoming complete adults.

What’s even more ironic is the solution their families thought of to this problem: they suggested that the two should get married. Overall, the anime is a fun watch. It is by no means something very original, but that doesn’t make it all that bad.

To be honest, the male lead is not a loser who can’t do anything. In fact, he’s quite assertive and won’t shy away from saying something that is on his mind. That is one of the key things that sets him apart from most anime protagonists.

4. Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms

High School Romance Anime of 2025

I bet a lot of you probably hate that girl who can get attention from anyone she wants. There’s an urge to see that person ignored and have her ego crushed. If you’re anything like that, this anime is for you.

The anime follows the story of Mona Kawai, who can’t help but become the center of attention of every person she encounters. Her beauty is seconded only by her charming personality that would make even the grumpiest person believe in a god—since someone like her could only be a miracle.

Anyway, her ego is shattered one day when she meets a guy named Medaka Kuroiwa who shows no interest in her. Overall, the show does become repetitive since Mona tries to seduce Medaka each episode and fails. But every time, their interaction somehow feels unique. With each passing episode, their bond grows stronger—even though both may not admit it.

3. The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity

High School Romance Anime of 2025

We all love Romeo and Juliet. I’m personally a huge fan of the idea: boundaries that can separate an entire nation can’t do the same for love—as it has no cult, creed, or identity.

This anime follows a similar plot. Chidori Public High School and Kikyo Private Academy are literally located right next to each other, but their students hate each other as if the schools were from different countries. As you can imagine, one of the lovers is from Chidori Public High School, whereas the other student is from Kikyo Private Academy.

The characters are interesting. Tsumugi is hard on the outside but is actually quite a softie on the inside, who can take accountability—and let’s be honest, that’s a rare trait in the real world of men. Kaoruko is not afraid to express how she feels, which is a breath of fresh air. Overall, the characters are quite interesting, making this show a must-watch.

2. The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You Season 2

animesoulking

Can you imagine what it would be like to be rejected by 100 girls? Me neither. But the protagonist of the show can.

This is a story about a guy who gets rejected by a hundred girls and realizes that God is his only shot at finding a soulmate. He visits a matchmaking shrine where the god of the shrine tells him that he’ll meet 100 soulmates.

The over-the-top scenario about this show is what’ll keep most of you hooked. You might even hate yourself for liking this show as much as you do—but you will like it, unless you’re a tsundere who wouldn’t like to admit it, in which case you also basically like it. I’d recommend giving this a go.

1. Blue Box

animesoulking

Some pairings are made for each other—like sodium and chloride, which make table salt. Whereas other pairings just make it—like a reactionary toxic couple. An example is oxygen and hydrogen making peroxide. And this anime is a toxic couple of romance and sports, yet it somehow works.

Blue Box is a coming-of-age anime that blends sports and romance, following Taiki Inomata, a badminton player, and his crush Chinatsu Kano, a basketball star, as they navigate their relationship while striving for success in their respective sports.

The show definitely doesn’t try to break any new ground or change what a romance show is. Instead, it uses common story ideas to stay fun and interesting.

But the way it uses those ideas is so good that it’s hard not to enjoy it. Its simple style and the fact that it doesn’t try to be something else is actually what makes it so likable. So give this one a go.
