The manga has been serialized on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket website since October 2021 and has gained a large following. As of September 2024, there have been 13 Tankobon volumes published, and the series has sold over three million copies. The English version of the manga started being published by Kodansha USA in June 2024.
Story Overview
The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity tells the story of Rintaro, a second-year student at Chidori High, a school known for having students with poor grades. One day, while helping out at his family’s bakery, he meets Kaoruko, a girl from the prestigious Kikyo Girls’ High, a school for wealthy families. Despite their different backgrounds, the two connect instantly.
However, things get complicated when Rintaro learns that Kaoruko doesn’t understand the trouble their friendship could cause due to their school rivalry. Can they navigate the challenges and find a way to be together despite the obstacles?
