Movie Scoop
This is a big deal for Nintama Rantarou fans. It’s the first movie for the series in 13 whole years. The story’s based on a spin-off novel from 2013, and it’s got a pretty wild plot. Doi-sensei disappears after being challenged to a duel by a mysterious ninja. While everyone’s out looking for him, this weird guy in white shows up at the Ninja Academy.
Behind the Scenes
The movie’s in good hands with director Masaya Fujimori. He’s working with a team of pros to bring this ninja world to life. They’ve got Kazuhisa Sakaguchi on the script, Kouji Makaino doing the music, and Emiko Niiyama designing the characters. The animation studio Ajia-do Animation Works is putting it all together.
What’s Nintama Rantarou All About?
It’s about these three not-so-great ninja kids, Rantarou, Kirimaru, and Shinbei. They’re training at ninja school with a bunch of funny friends and weird teachers. It’s a comedy about all the crazy stuff that happens while they try to become ninjas. The movie hits Japanese theaters on December 20th. No word yet on international releases, but fingers crossed.
