Terminator Zero Anime Releases on August 29th – Terminator fam aka sci-fi fanatics, buckle up because I’ve got news that’s going to make your circuits sizzle.
Terminator is the iconic franchise that made us all terrified of our toasters. Well, it’s back, and it’s going full anime this time.
Terminator Zero is a brand-new animated series that’s about to drop on Netflix faster than a T-800 from a time bubble. Mark your calendars for August 29th, yeah, that’s right, Judgment Day. Netflix is really leaning into the whole apocalypse vibe.
The English voice cast members include:
- The Terminator voiced by Timothy Olyphant
- Malcolm Lee voiced by André Holland
- Eiko voiced by Sonoya Mizuno
- Kokoro voiced by Rosario Dawson
- The Prophet voiced by Ann Dowd
We’ve got Production I.G behind this project. The studio that brought us ghost-in-the-shell-kicking classics like “Ghost in the Shell” and “Psycho-Pass.” Also, Masashi Kudo is directing like he’s trying to save humanity from Skynet himself.
Mattson Tomlin is wearing more hats than a Terminator trying to blend in at a hat convention. He’s the showrunner, executive producer, AND writer.
Now, let’s dive into the plot because it’s twistier than a Terminator’s moral compass. We’re bouncing between 2022 and 1997 like a time-traveling ping-pong ball. In 2022, we’ve got humans duking it out with machines in a war that’s been raging for decades. Meanwhile, back in ’97, Skynet’s just waking up and choosing violence.
Enter our hero – a soldier sent back in time to change humanity’s fate. Her mission? Protect Malcolm Lee, a scientist working on an AI to compete with Skynet. Malcolm’s got to juggle his world-saving AI project with being a dad to three kids. And there’s an unrelenting assassin from the future on their tail.
They’ve dropped trailers in both English and Japanese. So whether you’re a sub-purist or a dub devotee, they’ve got you covered.
The Japanese voice cast members include:
- The Terminator voiced by Yasuhiro Mamiya (Magma in Dr. STONE)
- Malcolm voiced by Yuya Uchida (Aka in Wonder Egg Priority)
- Eiko voiced by Toa Yukinari (Claudia Peer in Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt)
- Kokoro voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki (Chise Hatori in The Ancient Magus’ Bride)
- Misaki voiced by Saori Hayami (Maria Campbell in My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!)
- Kenta voiced by Hiro Shimono (Connie Springer in Attack on Titan)
- Hiro voiced by Shizuka Ishigami (Hugo in The Duke of Death and His Maid)
- Reika voiced by Miyuki Sato (Emperor Antoku in The Heike Story)
So, whether you’re a die-hard Terminator fan ready to see your favorite franchise in a whole new light, or you’re just here for some high-octane, time-traveling, AI-questioning action, Terminator Zero is shaping up to be the must-watch anime of the summer.
