Jin-Woo added the leader to his Shadow Army, calling him “Tank” and making him a Knight-Grade Shadow. Many thought Tank only had strong defenses because of the name, but in reality, it had massive strength and a high attack power.

12. Kaisel the Wyvern

Kaisel was a Wyvern that Sung Jin-Woo encountered while leveling up in the Demon territory. Jin-Woo faced challenges and leveled up, but he couldn’t use his Shadow Extraction skill on Demons.

The exception was the wyvern of Demon King Baran. In an intense battle, Jin-Woo managed to defeat Demon King Baran, with his subordinate Iron taking care of wyvern. Jin-Woo used his Shadow Extraction ability to bring Kings Baran mount back as a Shadow and named him “Kaisel.”

Although the Webtoon didn’t emphasize Kaisel’s strength, he stood out for his exceptional flight ability, heightened senses, and regeneration, making him the most powerful Knight-Grade Shadow.

11. Jima

10. Shadow Giants

Originally, they showed up in Osaka. They caused a lot of destruction in Japan, even taking down a few S-rank hunters. One of their strengths is that they attack in groups, making them extremely dangerous.

Just one Giant can match Jima’s strength. Jin-woo called them Giants No. from one to….. well, how many of them there were and considered Elite Knight-Grade Shadows.

9. Iron

Iron used to be an A-rank affiliated with the White Guild. During the Red Gate Arc, he ignored lower-ranked hunters, dismissing them as deadweights. However, after a failed raid, Kim Chul discovered that the neglected lower-ranked hunters were unharmed and even enjoyed their time in the dungeon.

This infuriated him, leading to an attempt to attack Jin-Woo. However, Igris intervened and killed Kim Chul. Jin-Woo then resurrected him as “Iron.” With enhanced strength and the taunt skill “Shout of Provocation,” Iron is considered an Elite Knight-Grade Shadow.

8. Ant Queen

The Ant Queen was a monster that could take on multiple top-tier S-Rank Hunters by itself. Even though it wasn’t as strong as the Ant King, it had more authority over the Jeju Ants. Sung Jin-Woo turned it into one of his Shadows after it died. When Ant Queen came back to life, it became a General-Grade Shadow.

However, Jin-woo had to get rid of this Shadow because Beru revealed that the Queen was mainly useful for reproducing and leading the ants. Even without seeing it in action, we can estimate its strength from its Summon Rank and its role as an Army Commander.

7. Greed

animesoulking

Greed used to be the Shadow of Hwang Dong-Soo, an S-Ranked Hunter from the Scavenger Guild. Hwang Dong-Soo really disliked Sung Jin-Woo because he suspected Jin-Woo of killing his brother.

However, Jin-Woo defeated him, and he became one of Jin-Woo’s Shadow soldiers. After being extracted, Greed got a Commander Rank and could talk with Jin-Woo. In the series, only those with a Commander rank or higher could have conversations.

6. Tusk

Tusk used to be a High Orc Shaman and boss of the Hunter Guild Dungeon. He led a group of High Orcs which also became Shadow Soldiers. After Sung Jin-Woo extracted him, he was an Elite Knight-Grade Shadow.

5. Byung-Gyu

He used to be an S-rank Healer from Korea during the Jeju Island Arc. When he joined the party, his healing abilities proved incredibly helpful. Although their group successfully defeated the Ant Queen, they were defeated by the Ant King.

Jin Woo resurrected Byung-Gyu as a Shadow to save Cha In, who was in critical condition. After fulfilling his role, Jin Woo respected Baek Yoon-ho’s request to let Byung-Gyu find peace. The extraction was terminated, allowing the healer’s soul to pass on peacefully.

Had Byung-Gyu continued as a Shadow Soldier, he could have become a Commander-Grade Shadow due to his impressive healing skills, buff spells, and stealth.

4. Kamish the Dragon

animesoulking

Kamish used to be the boss of the first S-rank Gate and was a powerful Dragon. It effortlessly took down many S-Rank Hunters, causing massive destruction. This event was seen as humanity’s worst disaster because of the extensive damage Kamish caused.

Originally a servant of Antares, the King of Dragons, and the strongest Monarch, Kamish possessed the ability called Dragon’s Roar, which induced despair and panic in anyone who heard it. When the United States tried to recruit Sung Jin-Woo as a Hunter, he asked to see Kamish’s remains. Jin-Woo used Shadow Extraction on Kamish.

Despite being under Jin-Woo’s control, Kamish still tried to act independently, nearly killing the humans around his new master. Unfortunately, Kamish couldn’t last long as Jin-Woo’s shadow because it had been dead for a while. Despite this, considering the shadow’s demonstrated power, background, and history, it easily qualifies as a Marshal-Grade Shadow.

3. Igris the Knight Commander

The Blood Red Commander Igris, or simply Igris, was one of the first shadows that Sung Jin-Woo got during his Job Change Quest. Originally, he started as a Knight-Grade, but as the story progressed, Igris advanced to become a Marshal-Grade Shadow.

Igris had super speed and immense strength. He even had a skill called Dominator’s Touch that lets him move things with his mind. Igris kept getting stronger throughout the series and, by the end, could even speak after reaching Marshal Rank. As a Marshal-Grade Shadow, he held the impressive 3rd spot on our list.

2. Beru the Ant King

Beru used to be the Ant King, a powerful magical beast of S-grade that showed up during the Jeju Island Arc. Sung Jin-Woo took him down and turned him into a Commander-grade Shadow. Beru was the first Shadow to communicate with Jin-Woo. He was quick and had skills like healing and paralysis poison.

Beru also had a unique ability called Gluttony, allowing him to gain the skills of those he devoured. He could change his size and appearance, getting stronger but losing some agility. In general, Beru was a formidable Shadow soldier, ranking 2nd among his peers.

1. Bellion

sung jin woo's shadows

Bellion was the only shadow that Jin-Woo hadn’t fought because he was one of Ashborn’s final gifts during the Monarch War. Before, Bellion served Ashborn, the Shadow Monarch, as a top figure in his army.

However, when Ashborn officially chose Sung Jin-Woo as his successor, Bellion and the rest of the Shadow Monarch’s army surrendered to their new master. Bellion wore a complete set of armor and wielded a unique sword shaped like a centipede with connected parts that could double as a whip.

Bellion’s strength was evident in a brief spar with Beru. Using his extendable sword, Bellion easily overpowered the Marshal-Ranked Shadow. Even when Beru tried to attack under constraint, his persistent assaults didn’t seem to affect Bellion, who emerged unharmed.
