Top 5+ New Movies in Theaters in June 2024 – There’s some big releases dropping this June, whether you’re into action blockbusters, horror flicks, animation or Western epics, there should definitely be a good excuse for you to get out and hit cinemas this summer. Today we’re taking a look at the Top 5+ New Movies Hitting Theaters in June 2024. So, let’s get started.
1. Bad Boys: Ride or Die
The first big release of the month is Bad Boys: Ride or Die. Ride or Die is Part Four in the action-comedy franchise that once again stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
It’s got some things in common with Part Three, 2020’s Bad Boys for Life such as the same directing duo of Adil & Bilall and a same size budget of $90 million.
Ride or Die again follows Miami PD detectives Mike and Marcus who investigate corruption within their own department but realize they’ve been set up and now find themselves on the run from the law. I’m not totally sure I needed another Bad Boys but maybe I’ll go check this one out. Bad Boys: Ride or Die drops on June 7th.
2. The Watchers
And on the same day is one of my most anticipated horror films of the year, The Watchers. I love horror movies and this one looks really intriguing to me.
The Watchers was written and directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan, the daughter of M. Night Shyamalan, in her directorial debut. I’m hoping she can channel some of her dad’s Sixth Sense magic.
The Watchers is based on a A. M. Shine novel of the same name and is about a woman who is trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night. The Watchers stars Dakota Fanning and you can check out the Watchers on June 7th.
3. Inside Out 2
Next up, for kids, families and animation fans is Inside Out 2. This is a sequel of course to 2015’s Inside Out, the critically acclaimed Pixar film that follows the personified emotions of a young girl named Riley.
In Part Two, Riley is now a teenager who’s noticing she has new emotions such as anxiety and embarrassment. Inside Out stars the voices of Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith and Lewis Black and releases on June 14th.
4. Kinds of Kindness
Also releasing on the 21st is the absurdist dark comedy film Kinds of Kindness. This is an anthology film of three loosely connected stories that’s coming from Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos who directed bizarro but very good films, The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

5. A Quiet Place: Day One
Then on the 28th is A Quiet Place: Day One. This is the third installment of the apocalyptic horror franchise and will be a prequel that shows us the day the world went quiet.
This is the first A Quiet Place movie not directed by John Krasinski but is instead is headed by Michael Sarnoski who directed the fantastic Nicholas Cage film Pig. Day One stars Academy Award winning actress Lupita Nyong-o.
6. Horizon: An American Saga
And releasing on the same day is the Western epic Horizon: An American Saga. An American Saga is Chapter One in a four-part epic Western film that stars and is directed by Kevin Costner.
It’s a multi-faceted chronicle covering the American Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West. We don’t have to wait long for Chapter Two either as it’s being released on August 16th. That’s two big Western films in one summer.
How often do we really get to see a good Western on the big screen these days? Seems like a perfect excuse to get out and hit the theaters. Horizon: An American Saga releases on June 28th.
