How Strong is Edo Tensei Itachi Uchiha? – We will be taking a look at How Strong is Edo Tensei Itachi Uchiha? We are going to find out how strong he is compared to his alive self, other edo tensei and to other shinobi in the series. So, let’s get started.
1. Ninjutsu
Itachi is a versatile Ninjutsu user capable of using water, wind and fire release nature transformations. He had a natural affinity for fire release as an Uchiha and was already capable of using the great fireball technique from a young age. He could also use different varieties of fire release techniques and could perform the water dragon bullet technique without an external water source. He could summon crows, use shadow clones and was well versed in fuinjutsu. His Mangekyo Sharingan also gave him access some ninjutsu techniques; Amaterasu, Yasaka Magatama etc. and his Susanoo is imbued with weapons; the Totsuka Blade for sealing and the Yata Mirror for an extra defense.
2. Genjutsu
Itachi was an adept genjutsu user, capable of casting a variety of genjutsu with each one powerful enough to trap powerful characters. They were so seamless that even targets that knew to expect genjutsu might not immediately realise that they’d fallen prey to him and he could also cast genjutsu by simply pointing his finger at his opponent. The Mangekyo Sharingan gives him access to his strongest genjutsu “Tsukuyomi” which is among the most lethal genjutsu techniques and very difficult to break out of once caught by it.
3. Taijutsu
Itachi is a skilled hand to hand combatant and is also good at Kenjutsu. At the age of 13, he was able to easily defeat 3 members of the Konoha Military Police Force. He also showed his great skill during his battle with Sasuke with the most impressive one being when he matched KCM Naruto’s Taijutsu blow for blow in the war. The Sharingan and the Mangekyo Sharingan also provides the extra precogintion necessary to predict opponents movements and react to them accordingly.
4. Speed
Itachi possessed impressive speed and reflexes, particularly with his hand movements. This extended to both throwing weapons and hand seals, making it appear as if he could perform his techniques without seals. We saw this in his battle against Sasuke, with the latter only realizing that he made a hand seal later. A combination of speed and Sharingan precogintion enabled him to parry the attacks of KCM Naruto and Bee during their encounter.
5. Strength
Itachi’s physical strength may not look too impressive but it isn’t something to write off. As already explained in the taijutsu department, when he was reanimated, he possessed the necessary physical strength to parry and block KCM Naruto’s attacks without getting overwhelmed. Now even if Naruto was holding back from actually going all out, it is still a very impressive feat considering that version of Naruto is quite physical.
6. Intelligence
Itachi is without a doubt among the most intelligent characters in the series. As a matter of fact, it is his smarts in battle that make him a formidable opponent. He can think several steps ahead of his opponent and he always makes sure to find the weakness of any ability whenever he sees them. He will then formulate a plan or a strategy to counter said ability. He took several precautions for Sasuke and against Tobi that he planned would activate after his death. Even Tobi admitted if he didn’t keep some secrets from Itachi, he might have been killed by Itachi’s trap.
7. Defense
The Mangekyo Sharingan gives Itachi access to an ultimate defense “Susanoo”. In Itachi’s case it comes with an extra defense, a weapon “Yata Mirror” said to be imbued with all 5 basic nature transformations and can change its nature to whatever attack it comes in contact with allowing it to deflect said attack, be it physical or spiritual. An incredible form of defense indeed and although it may have some weaknesses, it is up there among the best in the series.
8. Summoning
Itachi is capable of summoning a flock of crows for battle and would typically call them forth in flocks to swarm opponents and distract them allowing him to execute his plan accordingly. He even integrated crows into clones of himself that would fool opponents and cause them to attack and in this way he could discover the ability of his opponent and create a plan on how to counter them. He also uses crows to execute his genjutsu techniques.
9. Chakra
Unlike his alive self, Edo Itachi benefits so much from being an Edo. Of course Edos don’t have unlimited chakra as seen when Minato complained he didn’t possess enough chakra to use Hiraishin at one point in the war. It was the case with Gengetsu as well. However it is possible their chakra reserves constantly replenishes and very quickly whenever they run out. Itachi was able to spam his techniques as many times as he wanted in the war, keep Susanoo which is chakra taxing for as long as he wanted. He will take part in a long battle with Naruto, Bee and Nagato and later will battle with Sasuke against Kabuto without any chakra problems.
10. Stamina
Edos should have no stamina issues and should fight for as long as they want. If they get hit, they will just regenerate and continue where the ended. Itachi didn’t get tired at any single point of being an Edo. So even assuming Edos don’t have unlimited chakra, their stamina should be limitless as we saw no single reanimated shinobi getting tired at any point in the war, despite a few of them complaining of not having enough chakra for their attacks.
We can clearly see that Itachi whilst alive was really held back by his chakra and stamina issues. As an Edo however, he can use his techniques as many times as possible and could keep fighting for as long as possible, which takes him to a completely different level compared to his alive self. As an Edo he was only weaker than Edo BM Minato, Edo Madara, Edo Hashirama and Edo Nagato.
What Tier is Edo Tensei Itachi Uchiha?
Firstly, there shouldn’t be any doubt that Edo Itachi is much stronger than his alive version, due to simply being able to use his techniques more. Alive Itachi was High Kage with the likes of; Mu, Onoki, Jiraiya, Gengetsu etc and we can clearly see that each of these people I have mentioned are very capable of defeating him. Edo Itachi however should easily handle them proving that he’s a tier higher and I personally call this tier “High Kage+” which has people like; SM Kabuto, Alive Minato, 3rd Raikage, Killer Bee etc. and Edo Itachi is very capable of beating each of these 1vs1.
Whom He Beats and Who Beats Him
As already stated Edo Itachi should be capable of beating all those in the same tier as him 1vs1; Killer Bee, SM Kabuto, 3rd Raikage etc. and could even go a tier higher, where I see him having a good chance against EMS Sasuke. On the other hand Alive Minato has a good chance at defeating him by using sealing techniques. I also see Mangekyo Sharingan Obito beating him. Overall, I will say Itachi can beat anyone weaker than EMS Sasuke but loses to anyone stronger.
