Each character in an anime must have certain personality. Maybe you have often heard the word “Dere”. Well, “dere” refers to the word “deredere” in Japanese which means a term describing the state of being in love. There are many types of Dere that we usually see, but unconsciously we can only recognize the terms Tsundere and Yandere because this type is easy to find in a manga/anime character. However, there are still other types of Dere that you may not know. In fact, you’ve probably encountered them in the anime you watched. Today I’ll give you the list of the type of “Dere” characters you usually find in the anime. So, let’s get started.
10. Byoukidere
A person who has Byoukidere personality will always smile at the end of his/her life. Or, you could say that Byoukidire is a person who lives with several diseases that can take his life at any time. But with all these illnesses, Byoukidere’s character will always be cheerful and kind in spite of the difficulties they are going through. There are Kaori Miyazono from Your Lie in April and Nagisa Furukawa from Clannad. Both of them belong to Byoukidere characters.
9. Bakadere
Baka itself in the Japanese interpretation is a stupid character. Most of the Bakadere characters will behave forgetful, think illogically, and even sometimes their behavior is embarrassing. Yoshiko Hanabatake from Aho Girl and Osaka from Azumanga Daioh are the Bakadere Characters example.
8. Kekkondere
Usually, Kekkondere is a character who wants to get married soon even at a young age. Kekkondere characters will decide quickly when they meet people they like, and start to imagine and plan a wedding. Juvia Lockser from Fairy Tail and Kanau Kongofrom Himouto! Umaru-chan are the example of Kekkondere characters.
7. Bodere
This character usually has double types, namely Tsundere and Dandere. They look shy but sometimes rude and don’t hesitate to be violent. When these characters are with people they like or the opposite sex, they can become nervous and unknowingly respond with aggressive punches. Mahiru Inami from Working!! and Hiyori Iki from Noragami are the example Bodere characters.
6. Shundere
It might be impossible for Shundere’s character to smile. If this character smiles it might because they are hiding their true inner sadness. Their love interest can help them to open up and feel accepted in society, as this character usually has a tendency to ignore and avoid other people and to be a loser all the time. Tomoko Kuroki from WataMote belongs to Shundere Characters.
5. Yottadere
Yottadere characters are famous for how much they like alcohol and often get drunk because of it. The common Yottadere character will bring out his true nature and all the problems they hide, like the love problem and others. Rangiku Matsumoto from Bleach and Kobayashi from Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon belong to Yottadere characters.
4. Hinedere
This character usually has a tendency to have a sharp tongue with a cynical attitude. They may look terrible at the sight, but actually, this character hides their softer side. Yukino Yukinoshita from OreGairu and Hachiman Hikigaya from OreGairu.
3. Darudere
Darudere characters couldn’t express his/her emotions. They are defined as characters who are easily lazy and boring. Even though they show interest in the person they like, they don’t seem to care. Gabriel White Tenma from Gabriel DropOut and Saiko Yonebayashi from Tokyo Ghoul are the example of Dardere characters.
2. Nyandere
The nyandere character usually adds the ending ‘Nyan’ to each sentence. The personality of Nyandere relates to being very obsessed with cats, to the point where this character acts like a cat. Tsubasa Hanekawa from Bakemonogatari belongs to Nyandere character.

The characters of Utsundere usually feel sad, depressed, and easy to cry because the life experiences they’ve gone through. Moreover, the story of the Utsudere character involves gradually starting to trust others and building new relationships with others. Meredy from Fairy Tail and Maiya Hisau from Fate/Zero are the example of Utsundere characters in anime.
